Backlighting watercolors with neon light is a natural, but unique extension of the medium. Watercolors by their nature are transparent, allowing light to pass through the paint reflecting off the back of the white surface of the paper. In these pieces, I have placed neon light behind the watercolor paper that projects forward creating a spectacular luminescent effect.
